Wetpour Repair is a safety surface made of small rubber granules bonded together with polyurethane resin, poured over tarmac to create a soft playground surface that absorbs impact. It is a non-slip and safe surface for children to play on but like all surfaces it will require maintenance and repairs from time to time.
If your surface becomes damaged it is important to get it repaired as quickly as possible to avoid any potential trip hazards or health and safety issues. We recommend carrying out daily or weekly checks to spot any damages early and have them repaired straight away. This will ensure that the damage doesn’t spread and become a larger issue which will result in more costly repairs in the future.
Weathering the Storm: Wetpour Repairs for All Seasons
One of the most common problems that we encounter is the surfacing shrinking around the edges. This is a natural occurrence over time due to the expansion and contraction of the rubber during changing weather conditions. This can cause a gap or crevice to form which is a significant trip hazard and should be rectified as soon as possible. We are able to fix this by carrying out what is known as a ‘band repair’ which involves cutting out the existing edge of the wet pour, priming it and filling it back in with new EPDM wearing course or base rubber graded to match the original surfacing minimizing any potential trip hazards.
A Band repair can be completed in a variety of colours depending on your needs however we would always recommend having the repairs carried out in a bright colour as it will give your play area a fresh look. To find out more or to discuss your requirements please get in touch!
